Ceremony of Remembrance at the Children’s Grief Project.
To mark National Bereaved Children’s Week, we held a Ceremony of Remembrance here at the Children’s Grief Project yesterday evening. We invited children and young people who had attended our service for bereavement support along to take part in a ceremony of thanksgiving and remembrance.
We had a lovely evening. Helen put together a beautiful ceremony which started with her welcoming everyone to the Remembrance Ceremony. We had a beautiful song ‘Its good to Remember’. Then the children and young people were invited to write the names of their loved ones on coloured butterflies. They then placed the butterflies on the Remembrance Tree. We had a time of reflection before they were called to light a candle in memory of their loved one and these were placed around the Remembrance Tree.
One of our support workers then read out a beautiful reflection and we concluded with the song ‘A gift of Remembering’.
We had lovely refreshments and some treats. The children and parents/guardians were given the candles to take away and they can light them again in memory of those who have died.
Thanks to everyone to attended and helped out with this Ceremony, it really was a beautiful reflective evening.
